When most people think of dash cams, law enforcement comes to mind, but this is not the only time when they are useful. Here are three solid reasons for adding one to your vehicle.
- Proving Fault
It is a pain when you are involved in an auto accident and the other party claims it was your fault, especially if you believe that they are the one to blame. Instead of fighting over who is responsible, watching dash cam footage can reveal all of the answers. If you can show that they caused the incident, you will avoid any liability.
- Police Action
While this is technically related to law enforcement, it is a bit different from officers having these installed to protect themselves; it is the other way around. There have been several instances across the US where the actions of an officer were questioned and there was no way to tell who was being honest. If you have a camera on the dash of your vehicle, there will be no way to dispute the evidence.
- Protecting Yourself Against Customers
Some professions require you to transport others in your vehicle. Unfortunately, there are sometimes occasions when people are verbally or physically abusive to their drivers. An example of this would be a situation in New York City where a female passenger was very aggressive toward an Uber driver and threatened to falsely accuse him of a crime. His dash cam was able to catch her in the act and help him avoid losing his job and freedom.
As you can tell, having a camera in your vehicle can have some real advantages. The responsible thing to do at this point would be to consider buying one and making sure that you and your vehicle are safe. It is not just enough to have your home safe, ASE Telecom warns, as your car is part of your property that comes in contact with the most people, having it secure at all times is equally as important.
